In the Field

Dear Dad and Mam
Just a line to let you know that I am as usual in the pink hope you all at home are the same. I have no news hardly to tell you. I went down town last yesterday and had a feed on the strength of it being my birthday. I am still on my seven days rest in Alex. I shall be going back on Saturday. I met two of the chaps that were in the same dug out as myself on Cape Helles. I am enclosing some photos which I think are very interesting he took them himself, please keep them safe, there are very few of this kind to be had especially the one with the sun effect. There was a very funny thing occurred in my tent yesterday. We were visited by a swarm of bees which all hung in a bunch to the tent pole I have never seen anything like this in my life before. We struck the tent then put it up again, but could not get rid of them. They are still there. There was a fine concert in the YMCA here on Tuesday night, enjoyed myself up to the mark there I shall be sorry when then seven days are up. Lew Morgan is not down here but expect he will

I hope Mam enjoyed herself on her birthday as much as possible. Never mind I hope I shall be home with you on our next birthday and for many more after that. I am going down to fetch my photos tonight and will post them on to you as soon as I get back. I fancy they will go safer. How is Mailys and Dyfan getting on hope they are alright. I wrote to you two days ago, hope you have received it. I have also written to Jon and Auntie Annie. Well I must wind up now have no more to say. Hope you are all in the best of health. With best love and best wishes to you all.
Your loving Son
